.La Asociación Humboldt / Centro Goethe es una entidad ecuatoriano-alemana sin fines de lucro, cuyo objetivo principal es la contribución al intercambio cultural entre Alemania y Ecuador, así como el fomento del idioma alemán.
Estas misiones las cumplen, respectivamente, el Instituto Cultural y el Instituto de Idioma, secciones principales de la institución.
Desde 1971, la Asociación Humboldt tiene su sede en la Vancouver E5-54 y Polonia, donde se construyó el edificio “Casa Humboldt”. En el año 2001, la Asociación firmó un convenio de cooperación con el Instituto-Goethe de Alemania, a partir del cual se convertía en un Centro Goethe.
Mediante este convenio, la institución está calificada para otorgar certificados oficiales del idioma alemán, además de recibir fondos para diversos proyectos que promuevan el intercambio cultural entre ambos países.
La Asociación Humboldt constituye no solo un espacio para los eventos ofrecidos por ambos institutos, sino un pulsante punto de encuentro.
La representación legal de la Asociación está actualmente a cargo del presidente del Directorio; además, el Directorio está compuesto por: un representante del Embajador de Alemania, un representante de la Cámara de Industrias y Comercio Ecuatoriano-Alemana y ocho vocales, cuatro de ellos titulares y cuatro suplentes. Todos ellos son elegidos por la Junta General para un período de tres años.
En este espacio también se desarrollan talleres de fotografía, pintura, guitarra, tango y capoeira.
