El Museo Interactivo de Ciencia – MIC –, ubicado en el emblemático barrio de Chimbacalle, en las antiguas instalaciones de la fábrica de hilados y tejidos “La Industrial”, es un espacio que busca mantener viva la curiosidad del ser humano, mediante experiencias que trasciendan e incentiven el pensamiento crítico y científico, y que invitan a la ciudadanía a descubrir, reflexionar y repensar lo cotidiano a través de la ciencia.
Con 4 exposiciones permanentes e interactivas: Guaguas, Ludión, Museo de Sitio y Sala Quito; espacios verdes, como el Parque de la Ciencia y el Bosque Nativo; exhibiciones temporales y programas educativos y comunitarios construidos de manera innovadora, inclusiva, colaborativa y participativa, el MIC tiene la misión de fomentar la curiosidad innata del ser humano, la cultura científica, la apropiación social de la ciencia, el pensamiento crítico y la toma de decisiones informadas.
Desde 2008, mediante un acercamiento lúdico y experimental a la ciencia y la tecnología, el MIC se ha convertido en un punto de encuentro entre las/os científicas/os, los saberes ancestrales y la ciudadanía, poniendo en valor la importancia del desarrollo de la ciencia y su diálogo con otros saberes, como el camino para comprender y resolver los grandes desafíos actuales sobre el ambiente, el ser humano y el universo.
